The economy.-and heavy promotion-continue to keep the Easy Rider buses running.
Ridership is up more than seven per cent in just the past year, and there's been steady growth for the past few years.
Gas prices have been another factor in that increase.
But the bus system realizes those increases probably won't continue forever.
"Because of the population; there's only so many people in this area we serve," says General Manager Tim Thomas. "It's going to level off at some point, I feel. We are always future planning for everything we do."
Just since July first, there's been an increase of more than 88,000 riders.
The reliance on mass transit is also a factor in the passage of the most recent bus levies by comfortable margins; something that wasn't a sure thing in the past.
