UPDATE 4/8/2014 4:50 PM
A lockdown was lifted around 12:10 Tuesday at Edison Middle School following a bomb threat.
Wood County Assistant Superintendent Mike Fling described the threat as non-credible.
He said the building was placed under lockdown, a bomb dog and the proper authorities responded as protocol.
Schools officials are reiterating that false threats are against the law.
They warn that students will face serious consequences for faking something as serious as a bomb threat.
Parkersburg Police and state police are investigating what happened.
Assistant Superintendent Fling says pending what police find out, the school board will also follow up.
Parkersburg Police and Fire Departments at this hour are at Edison Middle School.
Police Chief Joe Martin says a student received a bomb threat on his phone about an hour ago.
We have a reporter on the scene and we'll have the latest when it's available.
