Finger lickin' good barbecue. People lined up to judge today at the Annual Brick Street Barbecue event in Marietta.
The people's choice award is highly coveted. Here's a look at how some of the judges choose their favorites.
"It's just a lot of fun. Camaraderie. Fun and the passion for barbecue," says Brutus and Company Team Member Doug Young.
A passion for barbecue. Both cooking and eating it.
"There's 31 teams cooking today. That's a lot of competition. There's only a couple local teams including us. There's team from all over the United States competing today so you know they're bringing a lot of different styles to this area," says Spirit World Smoke Shack Team Leader James Dochughey.
Locals line up to test each barbecue and vote for their favorite. Each judge is looking for that special something in the flavor.
"I really like spicy and usually sweet, usually," says people's choice participant Kyle Waybright.
"A little bit of spicy and sweet, about the same. And like a cinnamon background," says people's choice participant Joshua Johnson.
The barbecue-ers aim to please.
"We've just been overwhelmed. It's amazing how people are appreciative and love our food. Get back in line and we've had a steady line for almost two hours now," says Dochughey.
And for many it was well worth the wait.
"Their personalities were phenomenal. They really were. The food was great. I have my 2 favorites. The 3 EYZ is my number one pick," says people's choice participant Anita Cobb.
And a favorite among the crowd as well.
"The flavor was phenomenal. The pulled pork was really juicy it was tender. It just fell apart and the barbecue rub and the sauce that they use, the taste is phenomenal and I don't like spicy so it's perfect. It's the perfect blend," says Cobb.
The big winner of the even is 3 EYZ BBQ coming away with the Grand Champion title and $10,000.
They were the judge and people's choice number one pick. Chix, Swine, and Bovine walk away with Reserve Grand Champion honors.
Brick Street BBQ kicks off Friday June 8th, at 5pm, it'll continue through until Saturday evening. The artist and merchant's walk is also happening Friday evening.

People's Choice Tasting
The People's Choice Tasting, brought to you by Peoples News will take place between 2:30-4:30, Saturday June 9th. This is the public's opportunity to sample the participating barbecue competitors pulled pork. The Tasting Tickets can be purchased at the ReSTORE Marietta tent located at the entrance to the Competitors Village. The prices are as follows: $1-one ticket; $5- six tickets and one voting ticket, $20 for VIP Pass, 30 tasting tickets and 6 voting tickets.
