A training center right in our own backyard for those arriving first on scene in an emergency, putting others before themselves.
Monday afternoon was the grand opening of the Washington State Community College Center for Public Safety Training.
The center holds training courses for everything from police and fire to motorcycle safety training and criminal justice.
Also on display Monday, equipment from all the different fields.
Officials say this keeps the training here locally, helping the first responders that used to go hours away for training, weeks at a time.
Many local fire, police, sheriff officials from Wood and Washington Counties plus local mayors were in attendance, along with representivites from the governor's office, attorney general and FBI.
