With lots of people in the market, college students are looking for any way they can to get that first job.
The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation just wrapped up the third year of its Civic Leaders Program.
It provides college and graduate students with paid internships in businesses, governmental and non-profit agencies.
It's so they have an answer when employers ask them what experience they have.
"If you look at, many times, when employers are trying to find someone to work for them, one of the first questions they ask is, do they have experience. This gives an intern an opportunity to put on their resume that they have experience working in a related field," says Jim Strader, Civic Leaders Program Director.
This summer, students worked for engineering and law firms, doctor's offices and for the City of Vienna.
