Cold Temperatures Cause Furnace Problems

If you thought Thursday night was cold, just wait until next week.

Now is the time to get your furnace fixed if you've been dealing with a problem.

At Grogg's Heating and Air Conditioning the phone rang all day Friday with people reporting heating issues, resulting in more than 30 scheduled visits.

Once the temperatures drop even lower in the next few days they anticipate even more calls.

Grogg's says the biggest problem is lack of maintenance, and that could lead to being left in the cold when the temperatures drop.

"If you suspect you have a problem now would be the time," says Tim Hanlon, with Grogg's. "Call now. Don't wait until you wake up in the middle of the night with no heat."

Hanlon recommends having an emergency source of heat such as a space heater but urges that you don't rely solely on that as your source of heat, as they could become dangerous since they're not vented.

Keep those properly maintained, as well.
