Law enforcement believes drowsy driving is just as dangerous as drinking and driving.
They say if you're tired stay off the road.
Drowsy driving-related crashes are rising in Ohio.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says even with this news most crashes caused by tired drivers go unreported.
Bottom line: Don't fool yourself. Be a good judge of how tired you are.
"The most common occurrences are in young adults, young people, with males being the most prevalent...in early morning, late night and/or mid-afternoon," says Trooper Lea Mikes.
Trooper Mikes says if you're tired and find your mind wandering and you are rubbing your eyes, call someone to come get you.
If you can't, pull off somewhere safe and take a 15 to 20 minute nap.
She says any longer will make you more sleepy.
