Fire Destroys 3 Buildings In Beckley

BECKLEY, W.V. (AP) - Three buildings in downtown Beckley have been destroyed by a fire.

Media outlets report that the fire was reported around 5 p.m. Monday. It began in one building and quickly spread to the other structures.

Two structures housed several businesses, while the city owned the third building.

The nearby Raleigh County Courthouse and Beckley Water Co.'s downtown office were closed Tuesday due to the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined.

Beckley Common Council member Tom Sopher says the loss of the buildings is devastating to the city and the affected businesses.
