Improvements, New Events at Spencer Park in Vienna

Big things coming to Spencer Park in Vienna.

The city broke ground Friday on a brand new gazebo.

Plus, new playground equipment was installed last week.

The whole project costs around $100,000, with the Civitan organization donating $23,000.

New events are also coming to the park this summer.

The very first Vienna Family Fun Weekend is happening June 20th and 21st, with two others scheduled for July.

"We've got these beautiful parks, like Jackson, Spencer, McDonough - we're very lucky to have them and we don't have enough going on in them," says Linda Kern, administrative assistant for the mayor of Vienna.

In the past the annual ice cream social was the only event held at Spencer Park.

The new Family Fun Weekends will feature live bands, activities for kids and movie night.
