UPDATE 11/12/2013 5:00 PM

Two to twenty years in prison for a man accused in a stabbing last May.

Ira Blair Hyde was sentenced Tuesday afternoon.

Hyde earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of malicious assault and one count of grand larceny.

He was accused of stabbing a man and a woman at 17th and Spring Streets.

Hyde told investigators his actions were in self-defense.

"I believe this is a genuine situation where, if he could go back and
do these over again, he would have done this very, very differently," says Defense Attorney Jay Gerber.

"He says the victim came at him with a knife. ( He said) ' I just know I was fighting for my life after the fight started'," says Assistant Prosecutor Russell Skogstead.

He was sentenced to three 1 to 10 year prison sentences.

He will serve two of those sentences, however, at the same time.
