A report of an intoxicated person ends in a standoff Tuesday morning.
The Ravenswood Police Department says it started in the Wendy's parking lot when they tried to arrest Daniel Welsh, 37, of Wood County.
The officer found a gun in Welsh's bag, took it out and put it in his cruiser. Welsh was then ordered to put his hands behind his back.
"He (Welsh) turned away from the lieutenant, put his hand in his pocket. My lieutenant reached for his Taser. At that point, the guy turned and pointed the firearm at my lieutenant and said, 'This isn't the way this is gonna happen,' " Ravenswood Police Chief Lance Morrison said.
Officials say Welsh ran, but was later found. His gun still in his hands.
After negotiations police subdued Welsh with a bean-bag gun.
Police say Welsh was evaluated at a local hospital before being taken to jail.
Police are still determining his full list of charges, including felon in possession of a firearm, assault on a police officer and fleeing on foot.
Police say Welsh has a criminal past, and has even been convicted of attempted murder in California.
