Man Arrested in Washington County After Standoff

A four hour standoff after a man barricades himself in his home Saturday night.

Officers were called to the home of 33-year-old Thomas Voisinet after complaints he was damaging neighbors' yards by driving his car through them.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says when officers tried to talk with Voisinet he refused and pulled out a slegde hammer and cross bow, pointing the bow at a deputy.

Then barricading himself in his home, reinforcements were called in.

SRT team members and the BearCats surrounded the house, beginning a neoigation that lasted hours.

"They were able to gain entry without any shots or any arrows being fired," says Sheriff Mincks. "And Mr. Voisinet engaged in an aggressive situation with one of our officers, grabbed him by the throat and started choking him."

Voisinet had already been tased twice.

The deputy was treated for minor injuries.

Voisinet was taken to Marietta Memorial and then to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for further treatment.

He has been released and is in the Washington County Jail.

Voisinet is charged with aggravated menacing, drug paraphernalia, criminal damaging and resisting arrest.
