LOGAN, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a 52-year-old man died when he fell from a cliff while rappelling in southeastern Ohio over the weekend.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources said the man died Saturday in Hocking Hills State Forest near Logan. Agency spokesman Mark Bruce said the man fell from the top of a 130-foot cliff.
An official report released Monday identified the man as Peter Livingston of Centerville, in the Dayton area.
Bruce said Livingston had accompanied a Boy Scout troop to the state park. He was rappelling late Saturday afternoon in the rock-climbing area of the park when he fell.
It was the second fatal fall in the park this year.
Bruce says ODNR routinely reviews safety signage and encourages guests to have appropriate safety equipment while on state property.
