UPDATE 1/8/2014 5:35 PM
The Salvaton Army Thrift Store in Marietta closed back in October and now a new clothing closet opens in its place.
Located at the Salvation Army's Front Street location, Sally Ann's Closet isn't a thrift store but simply a clothing closet with clothes, shoes, and blankets donated by locals.
And community members are actually the ones who helped come up with the name.
"When people come in to use the gym or when people come in for other things they like to call it 'Sally Ann'," says Major Karen Garrett. "So we decided we would just coin that name and just call it Sally Ann's Closet."
There are no prices for individual items.
Instead, Sally Ann's Closet is a "bag sale".
You get a plastic bag and whatever you manage to fill up costs $3 a bag.
Sally Ann's Closet is open Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The tough economy is hitting home once again.
The Salvation Army Thrift Store on Greene Street in Marietta is closing at the end of the month.
Major Karen Garrett says they are trying to make a small thrift store within the Front Street location of the Salvation Army.
She says not all the details are worked out right now - they just found out last week.
The overhead costs of running two buildings just became too much and they have had to turn people away all summer.
Major Garrett says she knows the need in this area is great, so they are working to do the best they can..
