Exciting new developments coming this year in Washington County for those who plan on visiting the area.
The annual meeting for the Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau took place Tuesday evening at the Comfort Inn, highlighting the success of last year and the new plan for 2014.
Keynote speaker Melinda Huntley highlighted the importance of utilizing the visitors bureau and the increase of tourism across Ohio.
Jeri Knowlton of the visitors bureau says new plans for the upcoming year will greatly impact the City of Marietta.
"We have a lot of small businesses. Small businesses that couldn't market themselves the way a visitor bureau can market for them. And so what we are doing is really about economic development and helping those small businesses succeed," she says.
A new visitors guide targeting repeat travelers and local residents with the "I Heart" campaign, where people share what they love about the area are just a few of the new plans taking place this year.
