The Mid-Ohio Valley Safety Council sponsored an event Wednesday related to distracted driving.
Experts say distractions while driving is a major problem and the number one killer of car accidents.
Safety Thru You is a program designed to help distracted drivers become safer on the roads.
Cell phones, radio, GPS, maps, eating and applying make-up are just a few common distractors, experts say.
The president of this program stresses that parents are also to blame for their child's distraction.
"Teenagers 16 to 19 just kill theirself because they don't understand. In my meeting today I want parents to understand that they are killing their kids. Fifty-three percent of the parents are texting their kids wondering why they're late. They need to quit texting their children. If you're texting and driving...you're twenty-three times more likely to crash," says James Walden, President of Safety Thru You.
Walden also says hands-free devices are huge distractors because our brain is only programmed to focus on one thing.
