A faith-based grant is funding these 6-week courses to help families live healthier.
Each cooking class has a specific focus ranging from breakfast foods to canning vegetables. Local churches are volunteering garden space so you can learn how to be sustainable. And a walk challenge gets the body moving.
This summer is the pilot program, but they plan on continuing with different courses throughout the year.
"Also to replicate it in another city or other cities in West Virginia. Or if we can go throughout the nation we want to prove that a community can work together. That's why it's so important that we get businesses on board and people that have knowledge and can come help us and say this is what we can do and eventually help someone in another city and eventually maybe we can affect our nation," says community visionary Laura Fautty.
The program starts mid-June. For more information call 304-485-7374.
