A year ago, they never thought they'd have a business in Ohio.
But a Mineral Wells company now has a second plant just outside Marietta.
Somerville Industries operated a metal fabricating business in Mineral Wells for more than 45 years.
Last fall, it bought a vacant plant in Devola, and now has 15 people working there.
The inspiration to expand into Ohio is linked to the oil and gas drilling boom.
"A lot of our customers who are based in the state of Ohio like to do business with businesses based in the state of Ohio, and likewise in West Virginia," says Steve Somerville, President of Somerville Industries. "So we chose to have this as an Ohio-based company. These customers can still do business with Ohio-based companies."
Somerville has customers in the coal, power and manufacturing industries, as well as the drilling business.
It plans to keep operating from Mineral Wells.
