Wood County law enforcement officers are about to get three dozen new bulletproof vests.
The commission approved one of several bids it opened for the vests last week, $710 for each vest.
The contract was awarded to a Kentucky firm.
County Administrator Marty Seufer told the commission the county originally planned to buy 25 vests-a number which increased to 36 thanks to the lower than expected bids submitted.
The commissioners, meantime, plan to discuss later this week a request from Sheriff Ken Merritt to hire four new employees for his department.
