A new face around the Marietta College campus, much larger than ours.
Getting in that Pioneer spirit, some are excited.
But others aren't so sure.
The pioneer mascot, Putnam the Pio, made his debut this weekend.
After months of planning, voting and input from alumni, students, faculty and staff, his name was chosen.
Then came a custom made face and outfit.
He gets hugs from some, running from others.
It's the face that's shocking people around campus.
"He's very enthusiastic and he's kinda scary," says senior Paige Lamb.
"I think it is the creepiest thing I have ever seen thus far, somebody should have checked that out before they went and bought that," says senior Evan Winklmann.
"When you are creating a mascot, it's someone that has to be seen from the back bleacher at a football game, so he's not really meant to be seen up close," says the school's Provost, Dr. Karyn Sproles.
The idenity of the person inside the costume is sworn to secrecy.
Putnam the Pio doesn't talk but he told us that he shaves four times a day, brushes his teeth twice and works out all the time.
However, he is still trying to fit in and find friends at Marietta College and not scare them off.
