UPDATE 6/12/2014 11:45 AM
Breaking ground for more quality care in Parkersburg.
By next spring there will be two new medical buildings on the empty lot off of Garfield Avenue.
The Garfield Medical Complex will offer more than 30,000 square feet of office space.
Doctors behind the project say this is great for both patients and for the local economy.
You may have noticed some construction activity off Garfield Avenue in Parkersburg.
Crews started working there a week ago.
It's near the Airgas facility.
Mayor Bob Newell says medical offices are being built there.
Garfield Rentals, LLC owns the property.
Douglas Builders is the construction crew.
It's not clear yet which doctors will be there.
But Mayor Newell says the proximity of Camden Clark Medical Center likely appealed to developers.
"That's prime property and it's been vacant for a little while and there's some other property adjacent to it that hopefully that will fill in eventually," says Mayor Newell.
Douglas Builders says two buildings will be constructed.
The project will be done around April.
