Ohio lawmakers debated new standards for Ohio jails.
That's everything from meals to emails.
Lt. Brad Thorpe, Administrator of the Washington County Jail, says some of the things they are looking at don't apply to the jail, but others do.
He said if rules are updated about how long you can hold somebody in a certain cell, they could operate more efficiently.
Thorpe says looking at officer training hours, he doesn't necessarily agree with cutting those.
He'd like to see more manpower.
With a top of the line kitchen at the Washington County Jail, changing meals doesn't really apply.
They use the local L & P Services therapy.
A counselor comes once a week and inmates can sign up.
Local and state inspections happen multiple times a year.
