Move over...it's the law
As of December 2013, legislation was passed in Ohio requiring everyone driving to move over when they see workers on the side of the road.
ODOT took it upon themselves to campaign through social media to get the word out.
Workers, family members and friends all holding signs with the twitter hashtag, move over
"Feel a lot safer, feel a lot better about doing your work. Being out there and not having to worry too much about your back all the time," says Casey Hambel, an ODOT Highway Technician. "Especially when the speed limit went up to 70, and cars coming right past you, it's pretty scary."
ODOT says nationally around 24 workers a month are injured or killed as a result of accidents on the road.
