It's time once again to clean up the Ohio River and organizers need your help.

This year marks the 25th year for the Ohio River Sweep, happening June 21st.

All 981 miles of the river will be combed for trash and debris.

Organizer Lisa Cochran says in the past appliances and even an occasional vehicle have been found during the sweep, but over the years the cleanups have helped to reduce such finds.

Volunteers will walk the shores and find close to 7,000 tons of trash to be removed.

"But we also have boat volunteers. We have volunteers who come in and volunteer their personal boat," says Cochran. "We have a couple of locations where we work with the local department of natural resources and they bring in boats as well."

Locations for this year's river sweep are Point Park, Civitan Park, the Wiliamstown boat ramp and the Corning boat ramp.

If you want to volunteer all you need to do is show up.
