Ohio Landlord Disputes Race Discrimination Finding

CINCINNATI (AP) - A Cincinnati landlord found to have discriminated against a black teenage girl by posting a "White Only" sign at a swimming pool is asking the Ohio Civil Rights Commission to reconsider its decision.

The commission found in September that Jamie Hein violated the Ohio Civil Rights Act by posting the sign at a pool at the duplex where the girl was visiting her parents. The parents filed a discrimination charge with the commission.

The commission says the landlord indicated she posted the sign because the girl used chemicals in her hair that Hein alleged would make the pool "cloudy."

Hein hung up when The Associated Press called her Tuesday seeking comment.

Commissioners are scheduled to hear Hein's request at a meeting Thursday in Columbus.
