HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) - A sheriff's office in Ohio is investigating the fatal shooting of a man by a township police officer.
Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones says Ross Township police requested the outside investigation. Officers in the southwest Ohio township near Hamilton say they responded late Tuesday to a 911 call from a home.
Police say a suspect armed with a "long gun" took threatening actions, and was shot multiple times by a township officer.
The man who died at the scene was identified as 33-year-old Michael Snader Jr.
The township police chief says it appears that the officer acted appropriately. Sheriff's detectives are investigating at his request in conjunction with the county coroner's office.
