With every new year comes new resolutions and goals.
For the City of Parkersburg, Mayor Newell is very excited for 2014.
Two of the biggest decisions expected to be made this year in the city of course are the cracker plant and the possible building of a minor league baseball stadium.
Mayor Newell says the response to the study was very positive and a decision will be made this year.
And the bike trail stretching from Point Park to city limits of Route 47 will begin completion once the weather gets better.
"I think it's going to be a historic year for economic development. That's where my excitement is now," he says. "We do have a lot of things. It's hard to pick from a baseball stadium and all the things we are doing."
Along with the addition of two new hotels to the area Mayor Newell also says there are a lot of outside companies looking to build in the city which, in turn, creates jobs.
