Parkersburg spending over a million dollars this summer. Keeping our cars happy and our roads smooth.
Every year, the city spends money to make sure, in a rotation of 7 to 10 years, each road is re-paved. This year City Park is one of them.
Parkersburg Mayor Bob Newell says the whole street improvement project is around $1.2 Million.
Most of it is contracted out but $80,000 is done by city workers.
When they are paving this summer, Mayor Newell says be careful of the milled roads, the rough road when they grid up the asphalt and the raised man holes.
"It really just a few days before the company gets back in and actually paves it so it's a pretty quick turn around. By fall, even late summer they are all done," said Mayor Bob Newell.
Bids for the project will be out in the next couple of weeks.
The road work will begin around the end of July.
Mayor Newell says after this harsh winter there are many roads that need work.
