UPDATE 6/27/2014 12:20 PM
An organization that helps hundreds here in the Valley gets new leadership, as the Salvation Army in Parkersburg welcomes new lieutenants.
Meet the new couple in charge.
They are John and Sharon Autry, from Oklahoma City.
New lieutenants on average change every three years.
The Autrys experienced Oklahoma's tornadoes, which just missed their own home by 1/16 of a mile.
Providing necessary relief, they were able to serve the area during a devastating time.
"Well we really want to feel the heartbeat of the community before we cast a vision," says Sharon. "We know the Salvation Army has been part of the fabric of who Parkersburg is as a community since the early 1900s. We feel honored to be part of that legacy to continue that ministry."
Lieutenants Eric and Mechelle Henry, who the Autrys are replacing, are now serving the Salvation Army in Oklahoma City.
The leaders of the Parkersburg Salvation Army take new positions in another state.
Lieutenants Erik and Mechelle Henry are moving to the Oklahoma City Salvation Army.
They leave Sunday.
They'll be overseeing teen and young adult programming in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Lieutenants John and Sharon Autry from the Salvation Army in Oklahoma City are taking over for the Henrys.
The Autrys start on June 22.
The Henrys have been at the Salvation Army in Parkersburg two years.
