UPDATE 7/2/2014 4:55 PM
The 31st annual Broughton Ice Cream Social is going to help out some of our young soccer players.
Marietta Youth Soccer is this year's partner.
The Ice Cream for America Ice Cream Social raises money for local organizations each July.
It will be held on July 20th at the Washington County Fairgrounds from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m.
All the money raised is going towards maintenance for the soccer fields complex in Devola.
"You are always needing new soccer nets, this and that and it's just gonna help the kids out a lot," says Tara Meagle, with Marietta Youth Soccer. "The kids are excited, kids are super excited to do this because they are going to be down there that day, their parents are gonna be working, they are gonna get to see this, so I think it's going to be wonderful for the community and we are very excited to be able to do this."
Organizers say it's all you can eat ice cream, lots of different flavors and family entertainment all afternoon.
Tickets are $3.50 in advance or $4 at the door.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their lawn chair, relax and enjoy.
Officials announced Wednesday that funds from this year's Broughton Ice Cream Social go to the Marietta Youth Soccer.
The announcement was made Wednesday morning at the Muskingum Township Hall.
