A big addition to Marietta's downtown.
Phase three of the River Trail is officially finished and open to the public.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was Friday afternoon.
Phase three of the River Trail stretches from Fourth and Ohio Streets to Jefferson and East Eighth Streets, right past the Marietta Wastewater Plant.
The new piece is around a mile, which brings the full River Trail to around four miles - all the way from Indian Acres Park to Jefferson Street.
City Councilman Michael Mullen says the River Trail helps bikers, runners and walkers stay safe and off the busy roadways.
Mullen says the next phases in the project are being discussed.
The issues are boiling down to money and which part to build next.
One option is to continue the trail all the way out to Wal-Mart and link up with the hotels out of I-77 so it is easier for tourists to reach downtown as well.
