Around 30 people started in the early hours to help give the downtown a spring face lift.

They weren't afraid to get a little dirty even in the rain. Volunteers cleaned the bike path, mulched, and weeded flower beds all around downtown.

This is part of an important effort to keep the area clean and inviting for the community and visitors.

"Downtown is really all about atmosphere. If you come downtown and there's trash everywhere it's not a place you want to be. Restore Marietta is a downtown organization and we want to make our downtown a stage for things, like events. So the beautification projects are really important. It's a feel of the downtown area and anything we can do to help we will," says Restore Marietta Executive Director Mallory Greenham.

Greenham says they still have some work to do, but already accomplished a lot in a short time.
