This training course is put on by the River City Runners and Walkers. Each week has a course to push runners to their limits and get ready for the big race.
On Monday, everyone took off from City Park and made their way downtown to the city building where water was waiting for them.
Then they headed back the way they came to complete the 5 mile course.
The good thing about a program like this is it gives support and insight to new runners.
"The biggest thing with this is the support group that you have here. There's a lot of people who run daily out of this city park and not to be intimidated at all. They actually will help you and kind of coach you, in terms of helping you to complete what you started out to do today," says Training Coordinator Tom Kramer.
"It's not really to show you a lot of technique. It's to support. And I think River City Runners and Walkers Club is probably one of the most supportive groups that you're going to find around because this is what we like to do," says Kramer.
WTAP's very own Mollie Lair is training for the half-marathon this year.
