The Eastwood Volunteer Fire Department is doing something new this year, Shop with a Firefighter.
Fourteen local kids got a $100 shopping spree at Wal-mart. Organizers say it's all thanks to a generous community.
Many people donated money to help raise the spending limit from $50-$100.
Meaning an even more memorable and happy Christmas for the kids.
"And we told them. Get whatever you want. If you need clothes. If that's what you want then get it. If you want toys, get it. And it's completely up to them so they're leading the way the whole time. And it's just such a blessing and the experience is really neat. All the firefighters involved are very blessed. We're all very blessed that we've had so much support throughout the community," says event organizer and Eastwood Volunteer Firefighter Kelsy Harbin.
This is the first year for the event, but the fire department hopes it will grow each year.
