Governor Earl Ray Tomblin presented the city with a $40,000 grant to help complete Fort Neal Park.

The skate park is very popular, but needs bathrooms and lights. This grant will fund the building supplies necessary for the project, and the city is matching the grant to help with construction costs.

Governor Tomblin says positive outdoor activities are a plus for kids in Wood County.

"I think it's always good to get children outside where they can exercise and get fresh air and so forth. And simply to go out and hang out with their friends and have fun. It's good entertainment so we're pleased to be able to participate as a state," says Governor Tomblin.

Park committee members say they're excited about the improvements, and once the lights are installed, they expect to extend park hours.
