UPDATE: Trial Begins for Man Charged in Gallia County Murder

Jurors were chosen Monday morning in the case against Joseph Plymale.

Plymale is charged with the shooting death of John Sheets last February. He was indicted last March.

The court says all jurors were seated by noon and the trial began shortly after.

The trial is expected to last through the rest of the week.

Two men are indicted in connection with a murder case in Gallia County, Ohio.

Joseph Plymale and Chris Bowman face charges in connection with the death of John Sheets.

Sheets was found dead at his home last month, with a gunshot wound to his upper back.

Plymale was indicted on 11 counts, including two counts of aggravated murder, three counts of murder and aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence.

Bowman was indicted on five counts, including four counts of complicity and one count of receiving stolen property.

A suspicious death in Gallia County is now considered murder.

Now two men are behind bars.

Last week deputies found John Sheets dead in his home after a neighbor called concerned about where he was.

Investigators now say Sheets died from being shot.

They arrest two men in connection.

Joseph Plymale is charged with four counts, including murder and aggravated robbery.

And police charge Christopher Bowman with complicity to commit aggravated robbery, complicity to commit theft and receiving stolen property.


A suspicious death in Gallia County is under investigation by the Gallia County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

According to Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning a caller requested that deputies check on 58-year-old John Sheets, who had not been seen since Monday.

The caller said Sheets' truck was on an adjacent road, appearing to be abandoned.

After checking the truck and Sheets' home and getting no response a deputy entered, finding Sheets dead on the floor.

The case remains under investigation.
