One Washington County teen is counting his blessings after what appears to be a bad accident while deer hunting.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office says 16-year-old Dominick Oliver was deer hunting near Wingett Run when a muzzleloader rifle blew up in his face.
Investigators say the explosion happened while the victim was inside a 1998 Chevy S10 pickup.
33-year-old Benjamin A. Miller called police after he witnessed the teen walking near his Liberty Ridge Road home.
The sheriff's office says the victim was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital with serious injuries to his right eye and hand.
Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says he was then airlifted to Grant Memorial Hospital in Columbus where he remains in stable condition.
The sheriff's office and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources continue to investigate at this time.
They have yet to make any line of communication with the victim.
