Valley runners took to the streets of downtown Saturday night for a different kind of 5k run.
It's for the third annual Kicks 4 Kids Race sponsored by the River City Runners and Walkers Club.
In addition to registration costs, they asked runners to bring shoes, either used or brand new.
The shoes will be donated to Wood County Schools to kids in need.
Organizers say shoes are something that can easily be taken for granted.
"We go through a pair of shoes like once a month. It's nice to be able to give a pair of shoes to someone who can't afford them. It's a good way to give back to the community," says race organizer, Andy Nestor.
