UPDATE 2/26/2014 6:10 PM
Still on schedule.
A major construction project goes on, in spite of this winter's weather.
Nearly a year since breaking ground for the new high school in St. Marys.
Superintendent Mike Wells says it's still on schedule for a January 2015 opening.
He says the construction company hasn't been able to complete the roof.
But it has used the time to complete other construction work it had planned to do later this year.
Wells says those below-zero days are the only days there hasn't been work on the new structure.
One area county school board got a first look on a new high school being built in their community Thursday evening.
Members of the Pleasants County School Board toured the new St. Marys High School.
Superintendent, Michael Wells showed board members the progress by the BBL Carlton Construction Managers.
They also got to know first hand the exact locations of such areas as the gymnasium, cafeteria and athletic facilities.
"I'm very pleased with the work of our architects and the construction managers, we're right on schedule, we want to continue being on schedule. It's exciting because knowing the project is going to be a new high school which is what our kids and our community deserves," says Pleasants County Superintendent, Michael Wells.
Board members say the new high school is expected to be completed next December.
