A Wood County Judge Thursday heard motions for the upcoming trial of a man and woman accused of beating and trying to rob an elderly Parkersburg man.

Trial is scheduled August 13th for Matthew Depew and Amber Pickens.

A Parkersburg police detective who interviewed Depew before his arrest said Depew told him he had been smoking marijuana, but didn't believe he was under the influence at the time of the interview.

Depew's attorney is questioning statements he made during that interview.

Pickens attorney, meantime, is challenging admission of several crime scene photographs
