Making WVUP tobacco free and discussing the proposed Readiness Center.
Both were on the agenda at the WVUP board of governors meeting Tuesday night.
After a dinner at the culinary school the board approved making the campus tobacco free effective July 1.
They also approved setting aside $4 million for the Readiness Center.
Construction on that is predicted to begin in 2018.
"So it would allow us to hold upward of three thousand people. And also not only that, it would be more and providing a possibility for big events," says Gerard Elechaar, Board of Governors Chairman. "Today to my knowledge big events don't happen in our county and in the area because of the lack of space."
The National Guard is also partnering up on the readiness project, providing another $4 million.
Due to funding the architect is looking at building the project in two phases.
Phase one consists of a primary arena and parking lot.
