W.V. Bus Driver Acquitted Of Threat Charges

PHILIPPI, W.V. (AP) - A West Virginia school bus driver has been cleared of charges he made terroristic threats.

Media outlets say 42-year-old James D. Lawrence was also acquitted late Wednesday in Barbour County Circuit Court of conveying false information about a terroristic threat.

The Belington resident had been accused of writing a note warning that 30 children and five staff members would be killed. Lawrence told the school district's transportation director that he found the note on his bus in February.

His lawyer, however, argued someone else wrote the note and said there was no evidence to implicate Lawrence.
