CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin is adding banking to his committee assignments.
The West Virginia Democrat said Wednesday he will represent state interests on the Senate Banking Committee. He already has assignments on energy, armed services and aging.
Manchin said the banking committee will serve a key role as the economy recovers. He said local credit unions and community banks need a range of financial services to effectively serve their customers, and to get the economy back on its feet.
