Wirt County established the following as "warming centers" and placed these facilities on stand-by:
The Wirt County Senior Citizens Building, the Coplin Clinic, the Elizabeth/Wirt Volunteer Fire Department and the Wirt County Courthouse. The Red Cross will be able to activate the Elizabeth Baptist Church if overnight sheltering is needed.
If power should be lost in any area of Wirt County, these centers may be activated. People should contact the Wirt County Office of Emergency Services Director Ediwn L. "Bo" Wriston for placement as need arises. Director Wriston may be reached at 304.629.3735.
If anyone needs to come to a warming center with animals and they do not have a carrier or portable kennel, Wirt County OES has over 50 small-to-xlarge carriers that can be utilized for your pet(s). No need to leave them at home. Just bring a water and food dish and some food for them, as well as litter/bathroom items as applicable.
