West Virginia Division of Highways Prepared For Winter

This week's chill in the air is a reminder that winter is just around the corner.

And local highway departments are getting ready.

The West Virginia Division of Highways Friday morning checked out their vehicles for the upcoming winter.

The Wood County Garage's nearly two dozen trucks passed the tests and the salt and sand bins for treating roads are full.

The DOH says during a winter storm priority goes to major highways, including interstates and routes connecting urban centers.

The Ohio Department of Transportation's Marietta District plans its equipment test next Friday.
