Westbrook Garden Party

Green thumbs, healthy joints.

A motto that's becoming tradition at Westbrook Health Services.

Just last year there was an empty lot near Westbrook.

Now it's a growing park, all thanks to grants from West Virginia University Community Resources.

"It's to provide accessible gardening to people with joint limitations of other issues," says Sarah Holt, community development director. "it's wonderful, it's a great thing for us to do, we have a strong partnership with Westbrook, and just get out here and enjoy the weather and get people to do things that they're going to be able to continue to do on their own and enjoy."

Last year's grant for $2,000 went towards a vegetable garden.

This year, clients planted flowers.

The program is looking forward to another grant at the end of summer.

With that they'll build a walkway through the now blossoming park.
