Updated Thursday 4p.m.
-----------------------------------------

A large low pressure system continues to trudge through the central regions of the US creating widespread problems due to heavy snow, freezing rain, sleet, and even thunderstorms. This system is progged to move north-northeast throughout the day and evening Thursday, eventually moving into the MOV sometime around midnight.

Initially, a warm front will push through our area bringing widespread precipitation most likely in the form of freezing rain and sleet. According to current projections of atmospheric temperatures, it appears little to no snow can be expected. The main concern here locally is freezing rain. We could see up to a tenth of an inch or so of ice, which will coat trees, powerlines, and streets. Power outages are possible but not necessarily likely. But slick roadways are almost definite, especially in the morning hours.

Main low pressure system and associated cold and occluded fronts move through later in the morning hours leaving us with most likely a freezing rain event for the late morning and early afternoon.

Due to the threat for freezing rain and sleet:
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FROM 1 AM TO NOON FRIDAY.

Temps will eventually climb well above freezing once the fronts move through, which will give change our wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet over to all rain. Moisture looks to be weak after the frontal passage and therefore rain amounts should not pose a problem for our area.

When safe to do so, it is always encouraged to send us what weather you are experiencing at your location. It helps us keep you informed and let you know where the hazardous locations are in the MOV.

Send us your reports of sleet, snow, rain, freezing rain and/or amounts
