One year ago, voters approved an excess levy for improvements in the Wood County Library System.
But have any of those improvements happened yet?
There have been some changes, including increased hours at the Waverly Library and a weekend bookmobile in Williamstown.
But the biggest project of all is taking a bit longer.
That's the construction of a new library to serve South Parkersburg.
That's because the library is working with the City of Parkersburg to secure land nearby, where a small park has been located for years.
If things are worked out during the winter, plans right now call for construction on the new library to begin in early spring, and take about a year to complete.
Another reason the south side project hasn't started yet...is that the library system hasn't yet received the money voters approved with the levy's passage.
that's supposed to happen later on this month.
