Gun Season For W.V. Bucks Opens Nov. 21

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.V. (AP) - West Virginia's buck season begins in less than two weeks, and the Division of Natural Resources says conditions are good for hunters.

Wildlife resources chief Curtis Taylor says the season starts Nov. 21 on private land in the open counties and Nov. 23 on public land in wildlife management areas.

Mast conditions aren't as good as last year, Taylor says, so deer will be more concentrated around specific food sources.

He says the lower number of kills and abundant food sources last year should result in more mature bucks this year.

Hunters can take an additional buck if they buy the appropriate stamp. Residents will pay $21 for that license, while nonresident hunters will pay $43.
