WASHINGTON (AP) - A soldier from northeast Ohio has been killed serving in Afghanistan.
The Defense Department says 24-year-old 1st Lt. Ashley White of Alliance died Saturday in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province.
Officials say she and two other soldiers were fatally wounded when enemy forces attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device.
White was assigned to 230th Brigade Support Battalion, 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team of the North Carolina National Guard in Goldsboro, N.C.
